Disnery College Program: Disneyland Discounts and events

Disneyland Resort CPs are statuses Casual Regular Cast Members . You will then receive all benefits as a normal part time cast member. This includes a main gate pass that includes 16 sign in days for each calendar year for the cast member and up to three guests, witch are subject to block out dates. This means you are able to bring in up to 3 guests 16 times to the parks. However, if you're only signing in one person, you forfeit two other sign-ins for that day as they don't carry over. You also receive two comp tickets if you work during Christmas time! However, they don't get added on until January when you no longer have access to the Hub (Disney cast member website) where you can print it from. Fall participants will receive Winter comp tickets.

Additionally you will receive a 20% discount on all Merchandise locations, and quick and full service dining locations. Excluding outdoor vending.

Another great benefit that CPs also receive is a three year scheduling seniority privilege. The three year seniority guarantees you the 28-32 hours and possibility of gaining more hours per week, but this is going to depend on the season. However, you are able to pick up more hours by putting in a request. Also it could effect what your day/time/and location you work, but it also depends on your stage scheduler, so you may open one day and close the other or even just working in between opening and closing shifts.
Disneyland treats their CP's better than at WDW. Also we get better field trips that the program puts on. One of the perks at Disneyland is the perks you have better networking out there than Florida as Disneyland is a small program. You also get scheduled a lot more event during your Disneyland program.

Some of the events can range from.
  1. Welcome Party
  2. The Walt Disney Apartment Tour.
  3. LA bus tour.
  4. The Dream Suite Tour.
  5. Backstage tour of the Fairy Tale Wedding department.
  6. A tour at the Burbank studio.
  7. Backstage tour of the Monorail and Steam train department.
  8. Mid-Program Celebration. This event is held on property.
  9. Knotts Scary Farm.
  10. End of service celebration. Hosted at one of the Hotels. Usually Paradise Pier.
These events can change season by season, but the main thing you want to remember is the events are a first come first serve basis. The events coordinator will send out an email with the events calendar usually the last week of each month along with notifications before the event is open for registration. Some events have duplicate dates, but sign up asap as they do fill up.

Additionally they will host different networking events with special guests with leaders from all around the Resort.

Off to Disneyland

Well the wait is over and now for Fall 2017 I will be doing the college program in Disneyland. I loved doing Walt Disney World, so I am excited for this round in a totally new place.

I got accepted on March 8, 2017 for custodial. This is the same role I had in Disney World, but will be a different experience.

I will be blogging for my whole experience while at Disneyland and updated information as I go through the program in my earlier blogs. For you wondering about Walt Disney World's program, I still have a few left to post for that program

Disney College program: Extending Your Program

Weather you're on the program or just got accepted, you are probably thinking about extending your program. This is for Walt Disney World only as Disneyland you can't extend your program, but you may apply for another program. Also you do have the option to convert to Part time or Seasonal status and in some cases full time. Work force management meets will every participant about a month before departure. If you are in Walt Disney World you can't extended to Disneyland as they are two separate programs, but you can apply to Disneyland while you are in Florida.

Application for the extending are pretty basic, its just going to ask for your basic information and the roles you would like to be in. The roles will be limited as not all of them will be available, if like the role you are in you can request to stay in the same role new location or be placed in a new location.

I do not have a dates for when extension applications come out, but here is a general run down

  • Spring program Extended's to Spring Advantage in March.
  • Spring Advantage Extended's to Fall in June
  • Fall Advantage/Fall Extended's to Spring in October
In Florida you will have to put in a request to go Part/Full time or Seasonal, however this program it is much harder to go Part/Full time or Seasonal. You will apply at casting about 6 weeks before the end of your program.

Hope this helps!!!

Disney College Program: My Second Phone interview

My second phone interview went pretty well. It was pretty much the same, but did get a few new questions. Since I already did a program I was asked mainly about my pervious program and why I wanted to do another program? So overall it went pretty well.

Disney College Program: My Second college program application

One January 23, 2017, I applied for my second college program, but this time with a focus on Disneyland. The application did change slightly a bit from when I applied in 2013.

Instead of having all the roles in front of you, you will select your interest in certain roles like Custodial, Housekeeping, Lifegaurd or Quick-Service Food & Beverage (QSR). Next you will be asked to pick additional roles you may have interest in. You will still rate the roles High, Moderate or Low interest. If you don't choose the role from the list in this part that will mean you have no intrest in the role.

Overall the application was pretty much the same.

Right away I got asked to take the web based interview (WBI) and now I'm proceeding to the phone interview.

My Next Disney Experience

Happy New year everyone! In 2014, I completed my first Disney College Program, so last year I decided to blog about my journey and give you information about the process. However, this semester I graduate from Cleveland State University. With college coming to an end I am planning to apply for another Disney College Program for Fall 2017, but this is for a backup plan. Since I will have a degree in Film, TV and Interactive Media I plan on applying for a professional internship with Disney. The college program is a backup, so if I don't get in I have something I can fall back on to apply again.

My Career goal is to create children's live action programing. Growing up I always enjoyed cartoons and fun live action children's sitcoms. But let's face it, not all of them are that good these days, but then there are some that are fantastic in my opinion. Some of my Favorite shows include: Suite Life (both), Lizzie McGuire, In a Heart Beat, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman, Rugrats, Girl Meets World, Henry Danger, iCarly, Drake and Josh, Zoey 101Phineas and Ferb, Recess, P,B & J Otter, The Goldbergs, Last Man Standing, and The Middle.

I would love also bring back FETCH With Ruff Ruffman and Zoom and revive them. As well bring back the original Bob the Builder instead of what Mattel has done with the show. As well making a crossover with Thomas and Friends.

I have lots planned for everyone reading my blog for the next few months as I apply. The topic Include:
  1. Disney Perks
  2. My 2017 College program application
  3. Requesting off and switching off.
  4. Professional Internship Application
  5. Professional Internship Interview tips
  6. Doing a professional internship without a car in my opinion.
  7. And more TBD

From time to time I will be posting videos on my YouTube channel: Disnickfantic

These videos are going to be different as I won't be showing my self. I will show pictures over my voice. The will be pics that are from the parks or what every I can find.

This is going to be a fun adventure, so join me in for a magical time while I tell you about the greatest program  ever.
